Privacy Policy

Muslimnet UK (https://muslimnet.co.uk) is a small community project. This page describes, in plain English, what information the site stores about you, why, and how to have it removed. Muslimnet UK is the data controller for the information described here. For anything privacy-related, email hello@muslimnet.co.uk.
What we store, and when
Most of the site works without storing anything about you. You can browse events, articles and every tool except the Qada Counter without an account. We store personal information in these situations only:
- If you create an account (used for signing in with an email link): your email address, when the account was created, and when you last signed in. There are no passwords.
- If you use the Qada Counter: your prayer and fast counts, attached to your account so they sync between your devices.
- If you join the events mailing list: your email address, used only to send the Friday events round-up. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address from the list.
- If you save an event while signed in: which events you saved, used to send you a one-off reminder email the day before each one.
- If you email us or fill in a form: whatever you chose to send.
We do not sell or rent any of this to anyone, and we do not use your email for marketing beyond the event emails you asked for.
Legal basis (UK GDPR)
Account data and tool data are processed because you asked us to provide the service (contract). Event emails are sent with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link or by emailing us. Basic security logging is our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and abuse-free.
Where it lives
The site runs on Deno Deploy, account and tool data are stored with Supabase (hosted in the EU), and emails are delivered through Resend. Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own security terms. Like almost all hosting providers, they keep short-lived server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) that we use only if something breaks or looks like abuse.
Cookies
Signing in sets two essential cookies that keep you signed in. They identify your session, are not used for tracking, and expire on their own. The site also uses Google Analytics to understand which pages get used, and shows advertising through Google AdSense, which sets its own cookies. The cookie policy lists all of them, and Google's options for opting out of personalised ads are at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Your rights and deleting your data
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your account removes your email, your qada counts and your saved events with it. For now, deletion requests are handled by email: write to hello@muslimnet.co.uk from the address on the account and we will confirm within a few days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we start storing something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
